Whippet memorial images and poems can help if you are grieving for the loss of a beloved companion. Share your whippet memorials.
Unfortunately dogs have only short lives compared with us and despite our best care they will sooner or later succumb to old age or a fatal illness.
Euthanasia is a very tough decision to make. Your veterinarian can be your best advisor in this difficult moment. Discuss with your vet if your dog has any chance of recovery, if he is in pain and ask yourself if he is still getting any pleasure from life.
You will also have to take into consideration the emotional state of yourself and your family.
Euthanasia in some situation might be the kindest option. It is performed administering an anesthetic overdose and is painless for the dog. Speak with your vet about the possibility of euthanizing your dog at home.
A peaceful departure will be your last gift to the companion of so many happy moments.
Grieving for a dog is not accepted socially and you may feel embarrassed
about your pain and unable to share it with your close ones.
Dog memorial stones, painting and poem writing can give a tangible shape to your grief and help you overcome it.

To ease your loneliness, here is a short but powerful poem written by Rudyard Kipling, the best dog memorial from a poet to his pet.
As I understand how had it can be to loose a beloved pet, I offer to our all visitors this poem you can print and frame as a pet memorial.
The beautiful calligraphy work is courtesy of my generous husband who shares my love for dogs.
You can download here this wonderfully written poem.
Many people, after losing a loved pet, swear never to get another one but as Tennyson says is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.
Your next dog will never replace your previous one but another whippet will distract your from your pet loss and, if you don’t compare the two dogs, you might find that also the new one in time will become an exceptional companion.
If placing a dog memorial stone in the garden is not an option, send us a story or a poem to share your feelings about your pet loss with other dog lovers. Sometimes is easier to express our thoughts on paper than with words.
To write simple dog poems, first choose a rhyming scheme.
Easy schemes are AA BB or ABAB.
In AA BB the first two lines end with rhyming words and so do the second two.
For example:
My pet is gone
I feel alone
he was so sweet
I felt complete
In the ABAB scheme the first and third, second and forth lines end with rhyming words. An excellent example of ABAB rhyme is the Kipling's poem above or these simple rhymes:
I lost a friend,
the best I got
I won’t pretend,
I miss him a lot.
The poem will flow nicely if the number of syllables in each verse is consistent.

Let your creativity flow. Concentrating on this simple task and expressing your grief about your pet loss will have a healing and relaxing effect.
Instead of composing poetry and forget it in a drawer, sharing a grief poem with other dog lovers will multiply the benefits of putting your feelings on paper and will help you to heal and let go.
Use the simple form below to send us poetry, a story or a picture. You will build a web page all dedicated to your lost pet.
