Crystal, my Whippet/Heeler partner, was an amazing girl.
More than one person in pain found her, and was comforted by her.
One man drove around the block to come back to her. He told us that she had looked up at him while we were walking, and something about her eyes called to him, and would it be ok if he talked to her.
He had lost his own partner a few weeks before, and as he told Crystal about his loss, a dark cloud left his face.
Crystal was my best friend. I will never forget her, or stop missing her. Our years together were nothing less than a blessing.
I will miss her warmth next to me as we slept. I will miss making her dinner.
I will miss throwing her beloved tennis balls.
I will miss looking over at her to find her looking at me.
I will miss her sneaky kiss when she wanted a treat.
I will miss her excited face at the gate.
A part of my soul went with her when she left so that I can find her in the next life.
She is my anam cara dog, and I can never lose her.
I love you big dog. Fare well and sweetly until I get there.
A pairing of minds man and dog that know each heart both chase dream rabbits

Thanks for your comments and support. I miss Crystal like missing a hand.
I thought you might like to know that we're adopting a special needs Whippet mix in her honor.
Her name is Arby, and she has lost the use of her right leg. We are going to give Arby all the love and care we gave Crystal, and Arby will have her own special place.
Again, thanks for your thoughts and comments. Our dogs are indeed angels, and I am going to copy and take what Trivia wrote to our vet.
Everyone should see what you folks wrote.

'It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are.' (unknown) I'm so sorry for your loss but I know how lucky you are to have had Crystal :)

What a wonderful, heart warming post, thank you for sharing this with us. There is no bond greater than that of a person and their dog. I believe that certain dogs are no less then angels in disguise, sent to us from above, to lead us and all that will follow, by example of their unconditional love, to a better way to live.
