Any clues to parent breeds of Dobie? by: Dobie’s Dadd
Hi from South Florida, Fort Lauderdale area, and Dobie is now turning two years old, she has a shelter dog from Boca Raton and was born in Puerto Rico about January 2019.
Her adoption papers listed her as a hound, and we really thought she had some Doberman / shepherd So that’s why we named her Dobie.
As she matures, we certainly see the shepherd but after my friend commented two days ago that she looks like a whippet, I went online to look at whippet mixes and it sure looks like that’s the case.
I’d like to hear from you as to what you think her immediate parents may have been in her four grandparents such as German Shepherd, whippet, something else?

Rescue from Spain by: Rebecca
Our Dylan is from Spain and he looks nearly identical to your dog. We live in the UK, but I'm originally from Colorado. The Rescue we got Dylan from said he's a German Shepard Cross. I was looking online for similar dogs and found your girl's pic on this site. Dylan weighs approximately 42 pounds, but he doesn't look like it. And he runs like the wind. It's a shame we can't share pics.

Doplegangers all over! by: Anonymous
This dog looks just like my dog Lyric! When I rescued her at 3 months from a southern shelter I was told she was a Chihuahua mix. She grew quickly to 20 lbs and up to my knee in height. I realized she was not going to be a chihuahua. She's now 34 lbs, the fastest dog I've ever had and the biggest couch potato too! We tell people now we think she's a whippet/shepherd mix, but that she started out as a tiny chihuahua :)

Doppelgänger!!! by: Harlo's dad
She looks just like my dog Harlo, how big is she? Harlo floats between 26-30 lbs. We were told she was a Chihuhaha mix, and based on her size I would have believed it, but as she grew we started thinking she was a Beagle mix, but her legs were way too long for that. The Whippet part is spot on, we came across a Whippet at the dog park and it was obvious she was part Whippet. She's almost identical in height and proportions only not as skinny. For a long time I was convinced she couldn't be a Beagle Whippet so I started checking other crosses. I'm betting her father was the whippet because she has a thing for Shepherds. She's one of the smartest empathetic dogs I've ever had. Very protective of my son and her other pets including the our cats. Very playful and super quick/fast. Usually she'll run each dog at he dog park into exhaustion one after the other taking a break after 5-6 dogs quit. The only dogs I've seen that were as fast or faster was the whippet, but he had less endurance and the little Pug Italian Greyhound mix we had. She also got too tired after getting run into the ground 2-3 times.

Another Lookalike by: Anonymous
Cleo looks just like my dog, right down to the black spot on the side of her head! Her name is Bella - I've always called her a greyhound/german shepherd mix when people ask - we adopted her from a shelter as a puppy in December 2008 and she's a vital part of our family. Cleo's beautiful!

Cleo's Doppelganger! by: Anonymous
I got my dog from a shelter in Alaska last year and she looks just like your dog, even her name - I named her Cleo!
What a coincidence. My Cleo seems to have longer fur, especially on the tail, but they are very similar in body shape and patterns, down to the white on the back feet. I've been thinking she was a whippet/German shepherd mix and now I'm more convinced. Thanks for sharing!

Another Twin! by: Anonymous
My dog, Brandy, looks just like Cleo! We've called her a "Whipple" because we believe she's a Whippet/Beagle mix. She's got longer ears and a stiffer tail than Cleo, but the black/tan coloring, "barrel" chest, delicate feet and BEAUTIFUL eyes are the same.

Twin! by: Katy
Omg!! This is my puppy's twin! I rescued a German shepherd mix in November 2010 and I've been trying to figure out what she is mixed with! Found out it's definitely a whippet. After reading this site it explains so much about her! And after seeing this pic no doubt what she is!
