Whippets like of any other breed go trough some critical stages in their development. In the puppy videos below you can see what whippet puppies look like in each of their growing phases.


0 to 3 Weeks

At the beginning of this stage, puppies look a lot like little wriggling sausages. They are extremely busy feeding, sleeping and growing.

They completely depend on their mother for food and warmth. A new born needs the mother’s stimulation even for eliminating body waste.

The movements are very limited but smell, touch and taste are active. Around the second week also the ear canals will open and the puppy begins to ear the first sounds.







3 to 4 Weeks

The senses are beginning to wake up and the sense of sight is developing. The pups begin to interact and recognize their mother and litter mates.

The first teeth are beginning to emerge and the puppies begin to lap from a dish.

Puppies can relieve themselves away from the den and without stimulation from the mother.







4 to 7 Weeks

The litter of puppies is venturing out of the den and begins its socialization.

A social order is established in the group of puppies, and they learn their place in the pack. They recognize human voices and people.







7 to 12 Weeks

The puppy is learning and developing quickly, at 8 weeks of age is ready to move to his new home.

A well socialized puppy is ready to leave his mother, is receptive to training and new experiences.







3 to 6 Months

The puppy is testing his boundaries and your patience, play biting is typical of this phase and should be corrected.

Chew toys are crucial to defend your designer shoes during the teething phase.
