These two hounds encompass the Essence of Whippet. One is the world's smartest dog, the other is the world's sweetest.
I could list their abilities and accomplishments (obedience titles, breed points), but it all boils down to the fact that they are the center of my universe.
I pity any home without a Whippet.

Shadow is now 4 yrs old, we have had him since he was a tiny puppy, I found these old picture of him the other day and remembered just how small he was.
Shadow is a big part of the family, he is still just as sweet and lovely as he was as a puppy. I wouldn't part with him for a king's ransom.

This is our first whippet Montgomery, known as Monty!
We adopted him at 8 weeks old from a shelter 2months ago and it feels like he's always been here!
He has an unfortunate addiction to socks but were working on that!
He also has a love of baths even if you're already in there so we have to remember to lock the door!!
He's a friendly little pup with lots of personality, we get stopped every time we take him out for a walk by people telling us how handsome he is and he's more than happy to say hello!

Tia is a lovely 21 week old Whippet bred in the north of England. She is our first family pet and as fitted into our lives just fine.
She has sorrowful eyes but she is full of fun and just loves to run and run. She is doing well with her training and is very sociable with her class mates!
At home Tia loves to take charge of the sofa, she has now discovered my son's room and we often find her at the bottom of his bed, this is where the picture was taken!
We all love Tia so much and have taken her to our hearts and we really cannot imagine our life without her now.

Michael (female) is my first Whippet she is two years old.
I am a senior living on social security so paying $1500 to $2000 for a dog was out of the question.
At the time there were no whippets in rescue in my area. I began calling breeders to see if anyone would work with me. Believe it or not through the gracious generosity of this breeder, I paid very little for Michael over time.
Just this year Jesse (male) came into my life from the same breeder who came across a rescue.
He was only 10 months old and from champion lineage just as Michael was. She could have sold him, instead she gave him to me. I want to thank those out there who rescued my whippet and the breeders who stand by their puppies as this breeder does.
As to owning a Whippet, it is the most rewarding experience. They are intelligent, graceful, funny, companions, clean, elegant, sweet, lovable, affectionate and the best friend you could have.

I am amazed I was able to get a picture of my whippet puppy! She is ever so active!
We enjoy jogging in the park and playing ball, Suki's favorite toy is a stuffed hedgehog that makes the silliest noise (honk).

Sandy was born on 11 March,1979 in Cape Town, South Africa. She had great survival ability. At the age of 18 months she jumped over a 3-storey-high balcony and landed on a freshly-mowed lawn, with only a minor crack to her pelvis.
Seven years later she caught Billiary. I force-fed her with pureed food 3 times a day for 2 weeks, using a syringe, and she gradually regained her old weight. She lived for another 6 years.

Hi there!
Let me introduce myself, I'm a whippet, my name is Cooper and I am 6 months old. I am a rescue from W.V. and now live in Pleasant Ridge, MI with my father.
I love to run and play all day, with a nap here and there. I was able to run at the dog park today and boy did I have fun...
If you don't mind - I think its time for another nap.. take care.

Skye is my new puppy, she came to me from an animal sanctuary called Assisi in Northern Ireland.
Her mum and two of her brothers and one sister were left tied up outside the gates of the center.
When I saw her it was love at first sight. She came home with me a week later. It was the longest week. I couldn't wait to bring her home.
She loves playing in the garden. She is already toilet trained and responds to commands. I throw toys to her in the garden and shout fetch and she brings them to me.
She's quite a little character even at 8 weeks. She follows me absolutely everywhere. She is very affectionate and loves to cuddle up to me.
She sleeps an average of 5 to 6 hours in the night which is great for such a young puppy.
She is due her second inoculation on 5th July and I'm looking forward to the time when I can take her out for walks.
I hope that my new little girl and I will enjoy many years together. I love her sooo much!

Whisky loves to play with others dogs or with two toys at the time (one in the mouth and the other with his fronts legs)! When he doesn't play, he becomes a "coach potato".
