River Valley Canines

Our adult dogs are pets first and foremost, and thus are cared for as such. We only produce puppies that have the best chance of a happy, healthy life, and therefore ensure that all adult dogs pass their genetic and health tests. In addition to this, all dogs and the offspring produced by the pairings have a Coefficient of Inbreeding (COI) lower than the breed average.

All litters, regardless of breed or type are raised on the Avidog Program, Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) to outline a few. These programs assist our puppies getting off to a great start. All litters are socialized, with emphasis on problem-solving skills to give them the best possible chance at being confident, and stable for their new homes. All litters are exposed to household common/not-so-common noises and sights; to include different surfaces, different people/voice's, dogs (toy/medium/large), short travel trips, thunderstorms/rain (streaming), and so much more! I utilize the following enrichment methods: Start on leash training , Outdoors, Various People, Potty Training, Crate Training, Human Interactions, Basic Manners, Name Recognition, Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), Avidog, Touch Desensitization, Chew, e.g. Bone, Toys, e.g. Ball, Grooming Desensitization, Household Desensitization, Sound Stimulation, Socialized with Adult Dogs, Socialized with Children.

Also puppies come with the following: AKC Registration-Life Time Genetic (known testable) Health Guarantee - Wormed at 2, 4, 6wks of age and 1st Parvo vaccination, Complete Veterinary Exam at 8wks.

We do not love these dogs any less, but would prefer that they be in a one or two dog household since they won't be bred again.

Charmed Village is a small family kennel located in Hinckley, Ohio, 20 miles south of Cleveland. We breed only a few ultra high quality whippet puppies a year. We do this because its fun, but make no mistake we are passionate about our dogs.

We have a long and loving history with dogs.
In the 70's and 80's my husband was enamoured with large breeds: Great Danes, Irish Wolfhounds, and Great Pyrenees, and his sister down the road from us still breeds beautiful Danes.

After raising our 5 children and being frontline health care professionals for many years we knew we had a knack for making living things thrive.

We then had the good fortune of discovering the best kept secret in the canine world: Whippets.

Our dogs have exemplary AKC champion bloodlines with Westminster Best of Breed winners in their pedigree, but we believe that good genetics and awards are not an end, they're just the beginning.

Our pups are extensively socialized. They each receive daily handling and attention from the day of their birth. They are born in and stay in the room adjacent to our bedroom, and when they are old enough, weather permitting, they romp and play in our huge fenced yard and garden.

We both come from large families and have lots of neighbors so our dogs interact from an early age with lots of adults, a veritable armada of children, two miniature rat terriers, and our Amazon Parrot who struts on the floor like a field marshal.

Everyone, it seems, "breeds for temperament" and it is unquestionably every dog's single most important quality.

What does it mean?
It is your dog's personality and the attributes you want are the same that you look for in a spouse: loving but not suffocating, trustworthy, elegant, beautiful/handsome, fun-loving, and a great companion.

Someone you love coming home to, and that is always and forever our primary objective. But all this is still not the end, its just the middle.

You also want a dog whose athleticism can fill your heart with the sheer joy of being alive, who could put the most graceful prima ballerina or the fastest NFL wide receiver to shame.

The end comes when after 15 incredible years of companionship, your dog dies and you shed a tear on his grave and say "that was the best dog I ever had". THIS is the goal. THIS is what our dogs are about. If this is what you're looking for give us a holler.

We strive for the ideal multi-purpose whippet: an elegant, athletic, healthy hound, with a wonderful temperament, and that keen desire to chase that the breed was created for.

Whippets come in many colors and marking combinations, and we love them all. We have whippets in a range of markings from almost all white to almost all black or red brindle.

Whippets are delightful companions, very social dogs that are even better in groups of two or more.

Cherche' Whippets are located on five acres approximately 60 miles northeast of Atlanta, GA.

Our dogs are first and foremost members of our family and live as house companions.
My husband, David and I currently live with 5 Whippets and 1 Chihuahua.

We are considered a hobby breeder and focus on breeding dogs for ourselves to show and run.
Because our whippets are members of our family health testing and sound temperaments are top priorities for us.
Health tests include Cardiac, eyes Cerfed and have been Bear (hearing) tested.

My mother, Glenda, started Cherche' in 1984 as a hobby for my 4-H school project.
She is no longer as active in shows and field trials but is always there for our support. We value her experience and knowledge of the breed. Since 1994, I have shared my passion for whippets and breeding with my best friend, Crystal McNulty of Hycks Hollow Whippets in Illinois.

Most of our dogs are dual purpose . . . from conformation to field we enjoy every venue! Over the years we have owned and/or bred numerous National, Regional and Independent Specialty Best in Show winners, and several Top 20 conformation ranked dogs, as well as a select number of Top 20 Lure Coursing whippets.

We breed a litter about every 2-3 yrs. We expect any family that takes home one of our 4 legged children to stay in touch with us through out the dogs life. We are responsible for bringing these guys into this world and we would like to keep track of them through out their life.

Eclipse is a small breeding/show kennel of quality Whippets in Lehighton, PA USA. We usually have 1-2 litters a year, and although we breed for show quality Whippets, we do sell lots of quality puppies into companion/pet homes.

We keep anywhere from 8-15 adults at any given time. Our puppies are home raised until they are about 8 weeks old, when they then move out into the kennel to get used to being around other Whippets and noises. Here they also learn to use a doggie door.

We are a small kennel in southwestern Virginia. Our whippets are all housepets and spend their days on the sofa, running outside, and following us around hoping we'll drop some food! In breeding, our emphasis is on temperament and health, in the belief that to be a happy dog, a whippet must be a good pet. After that, we breed for soundness and "type," those qualities that make a whippet look and act like a whippet.

Our puppies are raised underfoot in the former guest room -- now puppy room -- and we stay in touch with their owners throughout their lives. The Timbreblue "family" is a close one, with everyone posting news and stories to our email list and getting together every year in Virginia for a reunion. Every puppy we breed is equally important to us, whether he goes to a show home or simply enjoys his life as a pet.
