We got our Mabel from Friendship APL in Elyria about 2 months ago as a rescue after she had puppies. Our girls are from the same area and could be related! Their faces could be twins.
I've been wondering why Mabel is so calm and doesn't bark. Now, after looking at Ruby, I'm thinking Mabel could be a Russell Whippet mix! Glad I saw this post.

Hello All, We have what I think is, a Jack Russell Whippet mix. We adopted him 1-1/2 years ago from a gal in Lorain, Ohio. She originally adopted him from a shelter close in her area. He looks just like Ruby, and has that bullseye orange spot on the top of his head. His coat is smooth, red and white. We named him Rio. He is as sweet as ever and loves sticks! He runs figure-eights around the back yard, so funny. If anyone lives close to Tallmadge, Ohio, and would ever want to join up for Jack-Whippet-play time,

MOLLY THE JACK WHIPPET
Ruby sounds just like my dog! I have thought she was a Jack Whippet because of all the traits you expressed. She is all white except for grey ears and a little grey dot in the middle of her head. When her ears stand up they look like bat wings. She is simply wonderful! After reading your post and seeing the picture of Ruby, I think Molly is the same breed.

I have a Jack Russell and a Whippet Mix. I think, after looking at the photo of Ruby, that you're right...she has the look of both, and it would seem that her personality is a match as well. She is adorable and I'll bet you enjoy everyday with her. We sure do ours!!
